For this final post about our trip to France, I’d like to treat you to some random bonus photos – a lagniappe, if you will. Lagniappe (pronounced LAN-yap) is a French Cajun word that means “a little something extra.” When bakers add a 13th beignet to the dozen that you ordered, that’s a lagniappe.
For my photographic lagniappe, I’m sharing my own personal baker's dozen: 13 of my favorite miscellaneous photos taken during our journey to Normandy and Brittany.
You'll notice that these aren't majestic landscapes or grand architectural views like you’d expect to see on a postcard or travel website. While I enjoy capturing a beautiful "postcard" scene as much as the next photographer, this collection features the closer, more intimate, sometimes quirky views that caught my eye as I wandered about.
They’re the kind of views I love to photograph when I visit a place, because they’re not what every traveler with a camera is looking to capture. These photos come from a more personal place, shaped by what interests me and how I see things when I look through the lens. For better or worse, they’re more uniquely mine.
Thanks for joining me in revisiting memories from our trip to France. In upcoming posts, I'll be sharing pictures taken much closer to home. Stay tuned, my friends.
